Stadtpark: Monument to Prominence

One of the places to visit while in Vienna is the Stadtpark. It is a perfectly manicured park where you can see monuments to Austrian people of global prominence in their respective fields.

Among the monuments you can see there and the most prominent perhaps is that of Johann Strauss. I took my photo there as you can see below.

Me at the Johann Strauss Monument

Johann Strauss is known for his waltzes which dubbed him as the "Waltz King". He was responsible for making waltz popular in Vienna in the 19th century. Among his famous works are "The Blue Danube", "Kaiser-Walzer", "Tales from the Vienna Woods" and the "Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka".

Within the park is a building in Italian Renaissance style called Kursalon Hubner. It now serves as a music hall featuring repertoire from the works of Strauss, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.

It is quite nice to have a leisurely stroll in this park. It is clean and the environment is relaxing. In addition, you will get to learn more about Austria.
